Shell Beach

The Shell beach at Tarbert is very well known locally and is one of the most visited spots by both locals and tourists. It is situated in a small beach cove, with a great view out across Loch Fyne.
The beach is totally made up of broken shells from clams and queenies. These were dropped offshore into the water from a food processing factory some years ago. As this went on for quite a while the shells started to washed up against the shoreline at the end of the Pier road. Although the shells were whole at the time most of them are now broken. Although is can be a bit difficult to clamber over the rocks to the beach it is well worth a visit.
