Tarbert Castle

Tarbert Castle is a scheduled monument of national importance because of the major role which Robert the Bruce King of Scotland played in its reinforcement and enlargement in 1325.
The castle location is an excellent spot for family picnics and there are lovely clearly marked walks further up the hillside, including the first section of the Kintyre Way.
The views from the castle over Tarbert harbour and Loch Fyne are magnificent and there is a flock of Hebridean black sheep who provide conservation grazing on the site
